Ukraine to obtain 1,500 drones from Latvia

Latvia has dedicated to sending an extra 1,500 fight drones as provides to Ukraine's Armed Forces.

Particulars: On Tuesday 1 April, Sprūds introduced that Latvia will ship an extra 1,500 fight drones to Ukraine.

Quote: "Two Latvian corporations will present Ukraine with a complete of 12,000 drones value €17 million as a part of a world coalition of drones within the first half of this 12 months," he added.

For reference: The drone coalition, led by the UK and Latvia, was established in January 2024 to boost Ukraine's unmanned aerial car capabilities.

Background:

  • On 24 March, it was reported that the coalition had allotted €20 million from a joint fund to acquire tactical-level reconnaissance drones for the Ukrainian defence forces.
  • On 28 March, the Swedish authorities directed its Armed Forces to contribute funds to coalitions centered on mine clearance and unmanned aerial automobiles below the Ramstein assist framework for Kyiv.
