Renée Victor, voice of Abuelita in “Coco ”and “Weeds” actress“,” dies at 86

Renée Victor, the actress who starred as Lupita on Weeds and offered the voice of Abuelita Elena in Pixar's Coco, has died. She was 86.

Victor died at her residence in Sherman Oaks on Friday whereas surrounded by household, a consultant for the actress confirmed to Leisure Weekly. She had been battling lymphoma, a kind of most cancers that targets the immune system.

Her daughter Margo paid tribute to the star on Sunday, penning a heartfelt Instagram submit.

"She was dignity and wonder until the top. I’m shattered, however I rejoice the top of her elegant and defiant battle with sickness these final couple of years," Margo wrote. "She would by no means enable something to maintain her down. All my life she's been a power of nature, a world of enjoyable, sharp wit with boundless skills and power. All through her lengthy life, her capacity to achieve any purpose towards odds was formidable."

The actress' daughter continued, "She was and can without end stay my hero and inspiration…. I do know she is blissful the place she is now, whereas nonetheless by my facet."

Following information of her demise, the official Pixar Instagram account paid tribute to the actress as effectively.

Born in San Antonio on July 25, 1938, Victor started her profession on the stage, singing and dancing professionally throughout Europe, Latin America, and the South Pacific. Within the 60s, she moved to Los Angeles and labored as a musician alongside the likes of Xavier Cugat and Perez Prado. Then, in 1963, she and her husband, Ray Victor, joined forces as musicians and spent a decade touring globally beneath the banner Ray and Renée, incomes the nickname, 'the Latin Sonny & Cher.'

Victor's pivot to tv got here within the Seventies, when she served because the host of KTLA's Pacesetters. She went on to fill small roles in episodes of Masquerade, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, and Matlock, The Tony Danza Present, and ER.

In 2005, she joined the forged of Weeds as Lupita, the housekeeper to Mary-Louise Parker’s Nancy Botwin.
