Radio Liberty journalists have launched satellite tv for pc imagery displaying the implications of Ukrainian drone strikes on Belaya airbase in Russia’s Irkutsk Oblast on 1 June 2025.

Particulars: Evaluation of video and satellite tv for pc imagery enabled Radio Liberty to independently verify the destruction of at the least 11 Russian plane through the Ukrainian Safety Service’s Pavutyna (Spider’s Internet) operation on 1 June: seven Tu-95 bombers (one probably broken), 4 Tu-22M3 bombers and one An-12 cargo plane, not categorised as strategic warplane.
At Belaya airbase, Radio Liberty verified the destruction of 4 Tu-22M3 and three Tu-95 bombers, with one further Tu-95 probably broken.
Background:
- On 1 June, the Safety Service of Ukraine carried out a particular operation codenamed Pavutyna, throughout which strategic aviation plane had been focused at 4 Russian airfields.
- SSU chief Vasyl Maliuk said that "in whole, 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers on the fundamental Russian airfields had been destroyed".
- The SSU formally said that 41 Russian strategic plane, together with A-50s, Tu-95s, Tu-22M3s and Tu-160s, had been struck by first-person view drones. The estimated value of the broken warplanes is over US$7 billion.
