President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed Common Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to contemplate the doable institution of Odesa Metropolis Army Administration.

Particulars: On 24 September, citizen Ivan Kazachuk submitted a petition to the president, calling for the creation of a metropolis navy administration in Odesa "to make sure the uninterrupted and efficient functioning of state authorities within the metropolis of Odesa underneath martial regulation".

Kazachuk argued that town holds strategic significance as "a serious transport, port and logistics hub in Ukraine's south" and is positioned "in shut proximity to fight zones and areas with an elevated stage of threats." He added that "the efficient and uninterrupted operation of state authorities within the metropolis is a matter of nationwide safety and defence".

The petition was supported by over 25,000 Ukrainians, prompting an official response from Zelenskyy.

The president identified that selections on the institution of navy administrations are made by him upon submission from regional state administrations or navy command, and that no such submission concerning Odesa has been made up to now.
