China has deployed nearly 90 Navy and Coast Guard ships, two-thirds of which are warships. This is reported by Reuters on its website with reference to a high-ranking official of the Taiwanese security service, reports UNN.

There are about 90 ships of the Chinese navy and Coast Guard in the waters off Taiwan, the southern Japanese islands, the East China and South China Seas, about two-thirds of which are military vessels.

In response, the Taiwanese military set up emergency centers, as well as stepped up "combat readiness exercises" at strategic points. Taiwanese naval forces and Coast Guard boats will monitor Chinese ships.

Any unilateral, irrational and provocative actions can seriously affect peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and are not welcomed by the international community

    – said the Ministry of defense of Taiwan.

    Recall

Taiwan's Defense Ministry has reported 16 Chinese warships near the island and expects new maneuvers. China reacted sharply to the visit of the Taiwanese president to the United States and American support for the island.

Russian court sentences Crimean resident to 15 years for alleged state treason

A Russian-controlled court in occupied Crimea sentenced a 33-year-old local resident to 15 years in a strict regime colony on charges of state treason, Russia's prosecutor's office reported on Dec. 9.

The man was accused of transmitting information about the movement of Russian military equipment and a military facility under construction to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense between December 2022 and March 2023.

The ruling was issued by the so-called “Supreme Court” established by the Russian occupation authorities.

Russian-installed courts in Crimea have escalated repressions since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Krym.Realii reported on Nov. 3 that 472 rulings for "discrediting" the Russian military have been issued in Crimea since February 2022.

Moscow's sweeping censorship laws, introduced in March 2022, effectively criminalize criticism of the war or narratives contradicting Russian propaganda.

The European Court of Human Rights condemned Russia on June 25 for systematic human rights violations in Crimea since its illegal annexation in 2014.

The court found that Russia carried out a "campaign of repression" targeting pro-Ukrainian individuals, which included disappearances, fabricated charges, suppression of Ukrainian media and education, and forced transfers to Russian prisons.

New increase in gasoline prices in Crimea: what is happening with the cost of the A95

In the occupied Crimea, the price of a 95 gasoline increased by 1.3 rubles per month to 69.19 rubles/liter. activists attribute this to the fall in the ruble exchange rate and the complication of logistics after the destruction of an oil depot in Feodosia.

In the occupied Crimea, the increase in prices for A95 gasoline for the month amounted to 1 ruble 30 kopecks. If on November 11 its cost at gas stations was equal to 67.89 rubles per liter, then on December 9 this brand of gasoline is already sold at a price of 69.19, reports UNN with reference to "Crimea.Realities".

    Details

Crimean activists of the International Civil Campaign #LiberateCrimea told Crimea. The reality is that according to their data, the main reason for the new price jump is a strong fall in the ruble exchange rate in the first week of December.

"In early December, the ruble exchange rate plummeted by 20 rubles, which caused a review of fuel suppliers' prices for their products. Then karbovanets won back its positions, but gasoline sellers did not reduce the price, so just a few days ago the cost of gasoline increased by 20 kopecks per liter," the activists said.

Activists of #LiberateCrimea noted that the increase in gasoline prices this fall after the destruction of the Feodosia oil depot is due to the complication of logistics of fuel supplies.

Russia uses American online store to buy weapons components – Bloomberg

Russia has established a supply chain of American microchips and chips used for the production of weapons from the online store of Texas Instruments, or TI store.

    Source: Bloomberg

Details: It is worth noting that Russian distributors replicate information from the TI store online marketplace to their trading platforms, allowing clients to view semiconductor availability and costs before placing an order.

Getchips.ru and altchips.ru are two Russian sites that sell TI products for a 40% markup.

US officials have established that Russian portals get entire product information via the Texas Instruments API (an application programming interface that allows companies to exchange data).

TI provides its partners with an API that allows them to view prices, product availability, order details, and so on. In some circumstances, authorised users of this API, such as price comparison websites, combine this data with additional sources to create a new API.

TI asserts that it does not provide its API to any Russian company, and that any companies that have access to it must go through a verification process.

According to Bloomberg, Russian distributors replicate product information from a Western company's website without direct access to the Texas Instruments API. However, it was not possible to determine the name of this company.

Reports say that the Russian government must first approve the acquisition before ordering and supplying the essential equipment to at least one intermediate country.

Records reviewed by Bloomberg show that Hong Kong-based intermediaries include Sure Technology, Chipower Electronics, and Horsway Tech.

Goods are mostly delivered from Hong Kong and Russia by Sea Global SCM and the Russian aircraft Aeroflot.

By August 2024, one of the largest Russian distributors had handled over 4,000 orders for hundreds of thousands of TI store goods totalling over US$6 million. Orders of over US$4 million were planned for Russian military businesses.

Previously, the US authorities accused the TI store of lax oversight over online sales. At the same time, the online store claims to regularly review and cancel thousands of orders that seem suspicious.

TI chips, in particular, were discovered in Russian Kinzhal missiles and Lancet-3 attack drones. Since the outbreak of the full-scale war, Ukrainian investigators have discovered over 4,000 Western components in Russian weapons, with Texas Instruments accounting for 14% of the total.

    Background:

    • India plays a vital role in supplying Russia with powerful Nvidia AI chips, while Malaysia has emerged as the primary provider of technology.
    • Russia manages to circumvent sanctions by purchasing electronic components from Western businesses for its missiles, twice overpaying for them.

German family sets world record: more than 600 Christmas trees in the house, there are even in the toilet

The Jerome family from Rinteln decorated their home with 605 Christmas trees, using 120 thousand decorations and 50 thousand light bulbs. This is the seventh family record since 2017, surpassing last year's figure of 555 Christmas trees.

A German family has set a world record for the number of decorated Christmas trees. Their home in Rinteln now has 605 Christmas trees decorated with more than 120,000 ornaments, 50,000 light bulbs, and thousands of Christmas figures. This was reported by UNN with reference to Reuters.

    Details

"It's just unbelievable!"- said Thomas Eromin, who together with his family set a record.

He noted that the process of decorating Christmas trees is very soothing for him.

Christmas trees occupy almost the entire house, even the toilet, but there are also rooms that can not be entered — the bedroom and their daughter's room.

"There's always a place — or a room, or a corner, or a ceiling, or walls," explains Suzanne Eromin, explaining how they managed to fit so many Christmas trees in their home.

This is not the first time the family has set a record. They broke their own achievement six times, including from 2017 to 2021 and again in 2023. Last year there were 555 Christmas trees in their house, but this year they decided to surpass themselves.

German opposition leader proposes European contact group to unify Ukraine peace strategy

Germany, France, the U.K., and Poland should set up a contact group to coordinate the European bloc’s approach to ending the Russia-Ukraine war, Friedrich Merz, the German conservative opposition leader, said in Kyiv on Dec. 9.

Speaking to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the German politician said that this united vision should be presented to the U.S. leadership. Zelensky voiced his support for the proposal, Ukrinform reported.

The German politician arrived in Ukraine's capital earlier the same day to meet Zelensky and "to learn about the current state of defense in the country."

Merz is the chancellor candidate of Germany’s center-right CDU/CSU alliance for the upcoming snap elections in February 2025. The ruling center-left coalition of Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in tatters and unlikely to preserve its seat at the steering wheel.

The politician emphasized that in the upcoming weeks and months, Europe should have a unified approach to the ending of the war in Ukraine without individual peace plans.

His comments come as Western and European countries try to jockey the momentum that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2025 will bring. Trump promised a quick end to the war, and his plan allegedly includes bringing the two sides to the negotiating table and changing the amount of military aid accordingly.

Zelensky responded to Merz’s initiative by saying that "we have already organized" such a group and adding that Denmark, representing the Nordic countries, would also be part of this forum. The first meeting is scheduled for December.

‘Why not?’ – Liverpool star opens door to La Liga transfer; reveals ‘biggest’ Slot, Klopp ‘difference’

    Liverpool transfer Mac Allister

Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister admits he’d be open to “playing in Spain” and has revealed the “biggest difference” between Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp.

The futures of several Liverpool stars are in doubt as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are in the final years of their contracts.

There was a step in the right direction on Sunday evening as The Athletic‘s David Ornstein revealed Liverpool have ‘made their opening contract offer to Salah’.

He added: ‘The 32-year-old’s existing terms expire at the end of this season and — like with Virgil van Dijk, who is also on course to become a free agent — a new deal has been tabled, according to multiple sources familiar with the process who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

‘It does not mean an agreement is in place or close and, despite a growing belief around Anfield that both players will stay, at present there is no certainty.

‘A resolution is expected to take time, which is far from ideal for Liverpool given Salah and Van Dijk — plus academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold — can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign teams from January 1.

‘But all three have now received proposals from the club and talks continue.’

The situation with other players is more stable, but Mac Allister has admitted that he would be open to a move to La Liga “one day”.

“Yes, why not? It is a country that I really like, and I have visited it several times, and, above all, because of the language and culture it is very similar to Argentina,” Mac Allister said.

“Without a doubt, I would like to play in Spain one day. But today I am very comfortable at Liverpool.”

Mac Allister has also revealed what the “biggest difference” is between new head coach Slot and former boss Klopp.

“We came from a long process with Jurgen, where the main ideas were already established,” Mac Allister added.

“Basically, Arne Slot hasn’t come to change everything, but to add his methodology to what we have already been working on.

“The biggest difference is patience when we have the ball. Now we have the ball more.”

Interestingly, Mac Allister recently admitted that he preferred Roberto De Zerbi as the former Brighton boss is the “best coach” he’s worked with.

“It’s the passion he gives for football. That’s special. Then it’s his ideas, the tactical side is amazing.

“He makes yourself feel good in the team. Since the first day I met him, he was amazing with me, that’s why I said he was the best coach.”

The global advertising market will exceed.1 trillion for the first time in 2023, of which more than 50% will be received by tech giants. By 2024, the share of digital advertising will reach 73% of the total volume.

The global advertising industry will exceed доходів 1 trillion in revenue for the first time in 2023, with most of the revenue coming from tech giants like Google and Meta.

Читайте статтю з коментарями на Financial Times.

This year, the global advertising market will exceed доходів 1 trillion in revenue for the first time, with tech giants such as Google, Meta, Bytedance, Amazon and Alibaba receiving more than half of the total.

According to forecasts of the media agency GroupM (part of WPP), global advertising revenue in 2024 will grow by 9.5%, exceeding average annual expectations, despite the difficult economic situation in key markets such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

In 2025, the market is projected to grow further by 7.7%, which is mainly provided by leading digital advertising Sellers in the United States, rather than traditional advertising agencies.

GroupM excluded revenue from political advertising in the United States from the report, calling its impact "distorted" for long-term comparisons. However, in 2024, political advertising revenue in the United States is expected to reach 1 15.1 billion, which is a third more than during the 2020 presidential election.

The report notes that although in the coming years the low interest rates that contributed to the rapid growth of the market after the financial crisis and the pandemic will remain a thing of the past, the use of artificial intelligence and automation will compensate for this factor and will contribute to further innovation in the industry.

Digital Advertising's share of global revenue is expected to reach 73% by the end of next year, up 12.4% in 2024 and 10% in 2025. If you take into account revenue from streaming platforms, digital newspapers and magazines, this figure can reach 82%.

Traditional advertising channels such as television, print media, and radio are gradually losing ground due to the dominance of digital platforms. Global print advertising revenue is projected to decline by 4.5% in 2024 and another 3% in 2025.

Audio advertising revenue will remain stable, while TV (including streaming and streaming) will grow by just 2.4% between 2024 and 2029.The United States remains the largest advertising market with projected revenues of about.379 billion in 2025, despite higher borrowing costs and caution from individual retailers, including electronics and home goods stores.

The report warns that the possible introduction of tariffs and the strengthening of the dollar after the election of Donald Trump may complicate the activities of advertisers in the consumer goods and luxury goods segments, which are already facing a reduction in demand.

In China, advertising revenue is projected to grow by 13.5% in 2024, to.204.5 billion. In the UK, Europe's largest advertising market, the market volume in 2024 is estimated at 5 53.2 billion, with a projected growth of 8.3%.

Chinese initiatives aimed at building consumer confidence and stimulating spending can have a positive impact on the effectiveness of advertising campaigns if successfully implemented.
