Ukraine's 3rd Brigade says it cleared out Kharkiv Oblast village, took ex-convict POWs

Ukraine’s Third Assault Brigade said on Nov. 25 that it had cleared out Russian troops from the Kopanky village in Kharkiv Oblast, taking several prisoners of war (POW) from Russia’s First Tank Army.

Russian forces were reportedly pushed out after they attempted to break into Kopanky, a village in eastern Kharkiv Oblast close to the administrative border with Luhansk Oblast.

The settlement lies around 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Kupiansk, a key logistics hub under increasing pressure from Russian troops.

In a video published by the unit, seven POWs are seen in a basement-like room during a filmed interrogation. According to the unit, the POWs' positions came under artillery fire from the Russian military after their capture.

Russia has been recruiting prisoners for high-risk assault operations in Ukraine to offset its staggering losses during the full-scale war.

The Kyiv Independent could not independently verify the unit’s claims or where the video was recorded.

The Third Separate Assault Brigade is known to have been operating around the village of Borova in Kharkiv Oblast. They launched a successful counterattack in the region in August, advancing almost 2 square kilometers deep into the front line area.

North Korea’s participation in the war against Ukraine convinced Biden to lift restrictions on long-range strikes.

PoliticsWar North Korea’s participation in the war against Ukraine convinced Biden to lift restrictions on long-range strikes. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 North Korea’s participation in the war against Ukraine convinced Biden to lift restrictions on long-range strikes.

The initial targets may be Russian positions in the Kursk region, where about 10,000 Korean troops are currently stationed. ATACMS strikes are believed to be more effective than long-range Ukrainian drones. However, according to some Western officials, this development is unlikely to fundamentally change the war’s course because Russia can continue to move its weapons beyond missile range.

Analysts claim that for a significant effect, the permission to strike should apply not only to the Kursk region. The Western partners should allow Ukraine to use Western weapons to hit targets on Russian territory along the entire perimeter of the border.

Putin’s press secretary, Dmytro Peskov, called the authorization to strike deep into the Russian Federation with Western weapons “a new twist in tensions” and “a qualitatively new situation from the point of view of the involvement of the US in this conflict.”

After the US decision, China called for an early ceasefire in Ukraine, saying that a political solution to the conflict is in the interests of all parties.

Ipswich fan reveals what he said to Man Utd legend Keane to provoke him: ‘I hate the bloke’

    Man Utd legend Roy Keane

An Ipswich Town fan has revealed the “truth” he told Man Utd legend Roy Keane to provoke him into an angry confrontation on Sunday.

Marcus Rashford’s second Premier League goal of the season after two minutes put the Red Devils ahead at Portman Road before Omari Hutchinson’s deflected long-range effort found the back of the net before half-time to give Ipswich a share of the spoils.

Keane was part of the Sky Sports punditry team for the match between two of his old clubs with the former Republic of Ireland international spending around 20 months as Ipswich Town manager between 2009 and 2011.

And following the final whistle in the 1-1 draw in East Anglia, the Man Utd legend went over to a group of Ipswich fans – who had been shouting abuse at him – during an advert break to make his own feelings known.

It quickly turned into a heated confrontation with Keane being heard yelling in a recording: “Wait in the car park, we can have a discussion. I’ll wait for you in the car park.”

Man Utd legend Keane had a poor spell in charge of Ipswich with the Tractor Boys getting nowhere near challenging for promotion from the Championship in his time at the club, before being sacked in January 2011.

And Neil Finbow has claimed on Facebook to be the fan that Keane told to meet him in the car park with the Ipswich fan describing the incident.

Finbow wrote on the social media site: “New claim to fame. Just been offered out into the car park by Roy Keane after a few choice words.

“Even Jamie Redknapp had to come over to get him away. Just your average Sunday evening out.”

When asked by another user what sparked the altercation on Sunday evening, Finbow added: “I was reminding him that he set us back five years and ruined our football club.

“I also mentioned how he wasn’t fit to step foot anywhere near our ground [Portman Road].

“Oh, and I mentioned about him walking out on a World Cup and breaking Haaland’s leg and putting it in his autobiography. I hate the bloke, and that’s been boiling up since he got sacked all those years ago.’ ”

Finbow continued on Facebook: “The truth hurts. I feel sick when I look at him.

“Few home truths thrown at him, he decided to bite. Very unprofessional. I’m sure he had worse when he was playing.”

Among his latest initiatives, he proposed, for example, to oblige working Ukrainians to buy government bonds for 7% of their salaries. Experts criticize the initiative because of the additional burden on the population and possible negative consequences for the economy.

Editor's note: This is a developing story and is being updated.

Russia launched a missile attack against the central part of Odesa on Nov. 25, inflicting casualties, Governor Oleh Kiper reported.

"As of now, we recorded six injured. Five are in a condition of moderate severity, their lives are not in danger. One person is in serious condition," said Oleksandr Kharlov, Kiper's deputy, in a comment for the media.

"Civilian infrastructure was damaged, namely residential buildings," Kiper said. Officials later said that the damage was caused by fallen missile debris.

Russia launched the strike into a densely populated residential area where there are no military targets, damaging a school and a university sports hall, Kharlov reported. No students were reported as injured, as they were hiding in shelters.

The attack came shortly after Russian forces struck the city of Kharkiv, injuring at least 23 people.

"Since yesterday evening, Russia has used around 150 attack drones, aerial bombs, and missiles against more than 10 Ukrainian regions," President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram on Nov. 25.

Odesa, lying on the Black Sea coast in southern Ukraine, is home to some 1 million residents. The port city has been repeatedly targeted throughout the full-scale war.
