Ron Washington is not going to return as Los Angeles Angels supervisor this season, the staff introduced Friday. Washington stepped away from his place on June 20 as a consequence of an undisclosed medical challenge.
Angels bench coach Ray Montgomery has taken over as interim supervisor and can stay in that place the remainder of the season.
Washington, 73, had posted a 99-137 file throughout his first two seasons as Angels supervisor. The Angels are at the moment 40-40 and in third place of the AL West standings.
The Angels employed Washington in November 2023. He beforehand served because the Texas Rangers’ supervisor from 2007-14, guiding the Rangers to a pair of American League pennants.
In between, he joined the teaching staffs of the Athletics (2015-16) and the Atlanta Braves (2017-23).
