The self-proclaimed president of Belarus has announced a possible complete shutdown of the Internet in the event of mass unrest during the upcoming elections. In 2020, similar restrictions were already applied with his personal authorization.

According to him, four years ago, access to the Internet was cut off in Belarus, allegedly because of attempts by other states to interfere in the country's fate and incite mass unrest.

"I think they're going to turn the country upside down, and all this nonsense is going on over the Internet. What do you think, I'm going to watch and pray that you didn't send a message to someone if the country doesn't exist tomorrow?" he said.

Lukashenko noted that his decisive actions allegedly prevented the outbreak of war in Belarus.
