Georgians protest against the government: what is happening in the country's capital now

Mass protests against the policies of the government and the Georgian Dream party continue in the center of Tbilisi. Demonstrators accuse the authorities of deviating from the European course, and the police use force to disperse the actions.

In Tbilisi, thousands of people have been filling the central streets for several nights in a row, expressing dissatisfaction with the government's policies. This is reported by the BBC, reports UNN.

The protesters accuse the ruling Georgian Dream party of abandoning European aspirations and returning to Russian influence. Demonstrations continue outside the parliament, where more than a thousand people have gathered, calling for a change in the country's course.

The Georgian leadership denies any ties to the Kremlin, but recent events, in particular disputes with the European Union and diplomatic difficulties with the United States, have raised serious doubts about Georgia's future in Europe. The situation in the country, which has only 3.7 million people, threatens its strategic choice and ability to integrate into western structures.

The streets of the city captured by the protests became the scene of clashes between police and demonstrators. At first, law enforcement officers unsuccessfully tried to suppress the protests until dawn, but on Monday the situation became even more tense. Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters. According to medics, more than a hundred policemen were injured, and several dozen demonstrators were injured or detained.

The protesters note that they will go to the rallies until the government changes its political course and announces new elections.
