Details: The situation near the Georgian parliament building escalated in the evening. Protesters and police threw bottles, stones and other objects at each other.

Afterwards, footage emerged of Georgian police using special equipment, including water cannon vehicles, against the demonstrators.

His statement came after the European Parliament adopted a resolution not to recognise the outcome of the recent elections.
    • Several Georgian ministries have already criticised this decision.
    • President Salome Zourabichvili later stated that the ruling party had declared war on its own people.
    • That evening, a large demonstration took place under the walls of the parliament in Tbilisi and there were clashes with the police. Protesters were brutally dispersed with water cannons and tear gas. The security forces used physical violence against people, including journalists and their equipment.

Zelensky suggests ending 'hot phase' of war in exchange for NATO membership without occupied territories

To end the "hot phase of the war," NATO would have to offer membership to Ukrainian territory under government control, with the invitation recognizing the country's internationally recognized borders, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Sky News

"If we want to stop the hot stage of the war, we should quickly take under NATO umbrella the territory of Ukraine that we have under our control. That's what we need to do first, and then Ukraine can get back the other parts of its territory in a diplomatic way," Zelensky said during the interview, which was published on Nov. 29.

According to the president, Kyiv has never considered such a proposal, since "no one has ever offered that to us officially."

Donald Trump's election has intensified uncertainty around Ukraine's war effort. He criticized U.S. military support provided to Ukraine by Joe Biden's administration. Some reports also indicate this would entail forcing Ukraine to cede territory and at least temporarily give up on its NATO accession plans.

Zelensky's latest remarks are somewhat at odds with his previous statements. He said that the signals of Ukraine's accession to NATO in parts is "nonsense," and Ukraine "will never exchange any status for any of our territories."

The president's comments to Sky News imply that territories currently occupied by Russia would not fall under the "NATO umbrella" in this scenario.

Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts are partially controlled by Russian troops. Russia claims to have annexed the whole territory of those regions in 2022 despite not controlling two regional capitals — Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Moscow also controls all of Ukraine's Crimean peninsula.

Throughout 2024, Ukraine has faced a challenging situation in its defense of the front line, particularly in Donetsk Oblast, where Russia has consistently concentrated its offensive potential.

Ukraine applied for NATO membership in September 2022 but has yet to receive a formal invitation.

Despite high expectations in Kyiv, the last two allied summits brought only new steps toward deepening Ukraine-NATO cooperation and a declaration that the country's membership path is "irreversible."

Zelenskyy may consider freezing war with Russia if non-occupied part of Ukraine joins NATO

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has acknowledged the possibility of Ukraine signing a "ceasefire agreement" if the Ukrainian-controlled territory is brought "under the NATO umbrella".

Source: Zelenskyy in an interview with Sky News; European Pravda reports

Details: Zelenskyy was asked to respond to media reports that one of US President-elect Donald Trump's plans to end the war could be for Kyiv to give up the Russian-occupied territories in exchange for Ukraine's accession to NATO.

The president said that the Ukraine-controlled part of the country could be offered NATO membership to end the "hot phase of the war", provided that the invitation to the Alliance recognises Ukraine's internationally recognised borders.

"If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we need to take under the NATO umbrella the territory of Ukraine that we have under our control. We need to do it fast. And then [as for] the [occupied] territory of Ukraine, Ukraine can get [it] back in a diplomatic way," he added.

Zelenskyy said the ceasefire is necessary to "guarantee that Putin will not come back" to seize more Ukrainian territory. And NATO should "immediately" secure the territory controlled by Ukraine, which is needed "very much, otherwise he (Putin – ed.) will come back".

    Background:

    • The invitation to NATO is the first point of Ukraine's Victory Plan, which was publicly presented by Kyiv in October. At the same time, inviting a country at war and with occupied territories poses a dilemma for NATO.
    • Zelenskyy's statement on the possible freezing of the war in Ukraine came against the backdrop of the election of Republican Donald Trump as president of the United States. Trump has promised to end the Russo-Ukrainian war "in 24 hours", although he did not specify how.
    • Media reports indicate that Mike Waltz, Trump's future national security adviser, has been considering several proposals to end the war in Ukraine.
    • The US president-elect announced that he is going to appoint retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg as the special representative for Ukraine and Russia.

  • Man Utd transfer: Euro giants to ‘offer’ ex-PL duo in swap deal for Joshua Zirkzee

Man Utd transfer: Euro giants to ‘offer’ ex-PL duo in swap deal for Joshua Zirkzee

    Man Utd forward Joshua Zirkzee

Serie A giants Juventus are prepared to offer former Premier League duo Douglas Luiz and Danilo to Man Utd for Joshua Zirkzee in January, according to reports.

The Red Devils have made a terrible start to the new Premier League season with Erik ten Hag losing his job after winning just three of the opening nine matches.

New manager Ruben Amorim took his first training session at Man Utd less than a fortnight ago after interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy added four points to their total during his two games in charge.

Amorim drew his first match in charge 1-1 against Ipswich Town on Sunday with Marcus Rashford’s opener cancelled out by a deflected long-range effort from Omari Hutchinson.

Man Utd are now 12th in the Premier League table with only Everton, Crystal Palace and Southampton scoring fewer goals than the Red Devils so far this season.

Rashford now has two Premier League goals this term, while Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee both have one each, with the latter coming in for a lot of criticism after his summer move from Bologna.

There have already been reports that INEOS and some of the Man Utd board view Zirkzee as a ‘lost cause’ with the Red Devils looking to ship him out in January.

The Netherlands international has been linked with a number of Serie A clubs, including Juventus, and now the Old Lady are reportedly set to ramp up their interest in January.

Italian website Calciomercato claims that talks between Juventus and Man Utd ‘could be started to bring’ to take Zirkzee to Turin with ex-Man City defender Danilo and former Aston Villa midfielder Luiz possible makeweights in a deal.

It is said Juventus’ transfer priority with Danilo ‘may not be so much a financial gain from his transfer as saving on his salary’ and a potential transfer for Luiz is also ‘a utopia’ currently.

The report adds that a loan deal away from Juventus ‘maybe back in the Premier League and maybe in exchange’ for Zirkzee could be on the cards for the Brazilian duo.

Amorim, who won his second match as Man Utd boss by coming back from 2-1 down to beat Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League group stage on Thursday, held a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the Red Devils’ match at Old Trafford against Everton.

When asked about Mason Mount, Amorim told reporters: “He is working really hard. You have to understand the human also. He wants this really bad. That is the most important thing. He proved to all of you he is a talented player.

“He was a European champion. We believe a lot in him. He has to stay fit. All the guys in the team are quality players. They had to improve. He did a great job. You see some moments details where you can see Mason Mount is a proper footballer. We believe a lot in him. I especially believe a lot in Mason Mount.”

Amorim was then asked what he expects against Everton, to which he responded: “Win. I am hoping to win. It is going to be a different match with a lot of fighting, long balls, second balls.

“A quality coach who understands the league and the moment of the opponents. We need to have the ball because we have a short time to recover and we need to rotate the team. I hope for a win and see different things in my team, improve like we did from Ipswich to now, with Everton, without training. I expect to see different things.”

New rules for booking from mobilization: what will change from December 1

Starting in December, booking from mobilisation will only be available online through Diya. Enterprises must meet three criteria, including a salary of 20 thousand UAH or more and the absence of tax debts.

Starting from December 1, Ukraine will change the rules for booking employees of critical enterprises. In particular, the booking will be online through "Diya", and the company itself must meet two mandatory criteria, as well as another one at the choice of the head of the enterprise. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for innovation, development of Education, Science and Technology-Minister of digital transformation Mikhail Fedorov, reports UNN.

"Previously, there was an option to book via Diya and offline. Starting from December 1, it will only be online, which will solve the problem with long-term processing of documents. Businesses that have retained their criticality status during the audit must update it by February 28. People will be able to book starting from December 1, but the reservation will only work until February 28 next year," Fedorov said.

He noted that new employees will be able to book immediately, there is no need to work out any time frame.

Under the new rules, in order to book people, an enterprise must meet the 3rd criterion: the average salary at the enterprise is not less than 20 thousand hryvnias and the absence of tax debts, and the third criterion will be chosen by the head of the enterprise himself. This can be residency in action.City; 1.5 + million euros of taxes paid per year; importance for the national economy or the needs of the tergromada.

"To obtain or confirm criticality, collect a package of documents confirming compliance with the criteria and submit them to the relevant state agency. Do you work in the energy sector? To The Ministry Of Energy. Are you engaged in agriculture? To The Ministry Of Agrarian Policy. Resident Action.City – to the Ministry of Digital Development. You pay more than 1.5 million euros of taxes per year, 32+ million euros of revenues or important for the national economy — to the Ministry of Economy," Fedorov added.

Ukraine receives $100 million loan for budget expenses from South Korea

Ukraine has received $100 million as part of a loan from South Korea for budget assistance, the first time the country is providing aid to Ukraine's state budget, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Nov. 29.

According to Shmyhal, the funds will be devoted to Ukraine's social sector by supporting budget expenses.

In April of this year, Kyiv and Seoul signed an agreement enabling Ukraine to attract up to $2.1 billion in concessional loans over 2024-2029. The loan has a term of 20 years with an annual interest rate 1.0% and a five-year grace period.

Later in October, Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko signed a loan agreement with the Export-Import Bank of Korea to attract the $100 million loan.

Ukraine faces a $35 billion budget deficit in 2025, and with Russia’s war continuing into its third year with no end in sight, the country has to rely on external financing to sustain its economy and war effort.

South Korea has provided Ukraine with humanitarian aid throughout Russia's full-scale war but not with lethal assistance, as the country's legislation prevents direct arms supplies to war zones.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Nov. 27 visited South Korea and met with the country's President Yoon Suk Yeol as Russian forces make their fastest gains in months and thousands of North Korean troops are stationed in Russia's Kursk Oblast.

Although the South Korean president did not rule out supplying arms to Ukraine, there were no official announcements that Seoul had changed its stance after the visit of the Ukrainian delegation.

Experts told the Kyiv Independent that South Korea could provide the most significant support to Ukraine through ammunition supplies. The country fields not only 155 mm artillery but also stores 3.4 million 105 mm rounds compatible with some of Ukraine's guns.

A South Korean official recently said that direct supplies of 155 mm ammunition are not on the table.

South Korea supplying weapons to Ukraine directly unlikely given legal hurdles, experts saySouth Korea has hinted it could change its long-standing stance on not providing Ukraine directly with weapons in light of the dramatic escalation of North Korea’s role in Russia’s full-scale invasion. 8 children aged from 6 to 16 years were returned from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Seven children returned with the help of Qatar, one – through the humanitarian corridor.

Another 8 children were returned to Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories. In particular, a boy was returned, who at the time of the Russian invasion was in a boarding school, whose pupils were taken by the occupation authorities to the city of Skadovsk and the Russian Federation, UNN informs.

"We managed to return 8 Ukrainian children to their homeland. Children from Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, who lived under the pressure of the Russian occupation, finally broke free. This was implemented within the framework of the implementation of the approved Action Plan of the president of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA," Lubinets said.

He noted that the Returned Children are from 6 to 16 years old, and some of them have illnesses, so they were met in Ukraine together with ambulances. Among those returned is a boy who at the time of the Russian invasion was in the "Oleshkovsky boarding school", whose pupils were taken by the occupation authorities to the city of Skadovsk and the Russian Federation.

According to him, family circumstances and the lack of prospects for the future of children prompted adults who were young Ukrainians to return to Ukraine.

"I note that 7 children were returned with the involvement of the intermediary country Qatar. Another boy was returned through the humanitarian corridor. But now these children will finally receive decent medical care, embrace their parents and relatives and implement their plans," Lubinets added.
