Taras Chmut: the army needs to be manned by 500 thousand servicemen

The Ukrainian army needs 500,000 new soldiers to properly staff its units. The current staffing of infantry companies is only 15-25 people.

The Ukrainian army needs 500 thousand new servicemen to man up. This was reported by the head of the "Come Back Alive" foundation Taras Chmut, UNN reports.

    Details

Chmut emphasized that at the moment, the level of manning of military units is much lower than necessary, especially in infantry units. According to him, although the number of brigades may look bigger on paper, in reality, the manning, in particular in infantry companies, often does not exceed 15-25 people, which significantly reduces the combat capability of the units.

According to Chmut, the statements about the need to mobilize 160,000 people do not correspond to reality, because even these figures will not ensure the country's proper defense capability. To effectively deter the aggressor and strengthen the defense, he said, much more is needed – about 500,000 new conscripts.
