Hungarian Overseas Minister Péter Szijjártó, following Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has declared that Budapest will block the subsequent extension of EU sanctions in opposition to Russia except Ukraine "refrains from measures that hurt Hungary’s power safety".

Particulars: Szijjártó reiterated Hungary’s long-standing opposition to sanctions in opposition to Russia, asserting that they need to be lifted "as quickly as attainable" and threatening to veto the subsequent renewal of sanctions if Ukraine continues actions that allegedly compromise Hungary’s power safety.

- Earlier, Viktor Orbán claimed that Hungary had acquired a "assure" from the EU on restoring fuel transit by Ukraine and warned that sanctions can be blocked if this assure was not fulfilled.
