    Latvia palms over 100 FPV drones to Ukraine’s defence forces

    The Ukrainian army has obtained 100 FPV drones from Latvia as a part of the general public charity initiative Drones for the Armed Forces.

    Particulars: On Monday, 3 February, the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia hosted an occasion with the participation of Dace Melbārde, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of International Affairs of Latvia, Ukraine's Ambassador to Latvia Anatolii Kutsevol, and the top of the Ziedot.lv charity basis Rūta Dimanta, throughout which the cargo of 100 Latvian-made FPV drones to Ukraine was introduced.

    Beneath the coordination of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, these drones will likely be handed over instantly to 2 Ukrainian army items – the twenty first Mechanised Brigade and the Liut Brigade of the Nationwide Guard of Ukraine.

    The funds to buy the drones had been raised, amongst different issues, throughout a charity initiative by Latvian International Minister Baiba Braže, who ran the Riga Half Marathon in Could 2024, calling on the general public to donate to the drones that the Ukrainian army desperately wants.

    The challenge is held in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia and the Latvian charity basis Ziedot.lv and has raised about €130,000 to this point.

    Quote from Anatolii Kutsevol: "The acquisition of 1 such drone can destroy hundreds of thousands of {dollars} value of enemy army tools. On this manner, we are going to assist Ukrainian defenders defeat the manpower and tools of the Russian occupiers whereas supporting the Latvian economic system and native drone producers."

    Background:

    • On 6 January, it was reported that the UK, along with NATO allies, together with Latvia, would offer Ukraine with 30,000 new drones.
    • On 3 February, it was reported that in Lithuania, organisations supporting Ukraine and the Lithuanian Nationwide Radio and Tv introduced the launch of a brand new marketing campaign, Radarom! The funds raised will buy drones and anti-drone tools for the Ukrainian defence forces.
