A video of the assembly was revealed by the Kremlin-aligned Russian information company TASS.
Background:
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree approving the composition of the Ukrainian delegation for peace talks with the US and Russia, headed by Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the Nationwide Safety and Defence Council.
- Zelenskyy beforehand said that trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US and Russia would happen within the United Arab Emirates on Friday and Saturday.
- On 23 January, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow insists on the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbas, presenting it as a key situation for negotiations to finish the conflict.
- Earlier than the Abu Dhabi talks started, Zelenskyy mentioned negotiation technique with the Ukrainian delegation.
