Man City boss Guardiola seals ‘agreement’ for next job as he ‘shows clear signs of exhaustion’

    Man City boss Pep Guardiola

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has an ‘agreement in principle’ to take over as the head coach of the Brazil national team, according to reports.

The Citizens had made a good start to the new Premier League season but they have struggled more after losing Rodri to a serious knee injury, which has ruled the Spain international out for the rest of the season.

Man City have lost four matches in a row in all competitions in an unprecedented run of form for Guardiola’s side with their second-half performance in their 2-1 loss to Brighton at the weekend particularly poor.

Guardiola has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.

The Catalan’s contract is up at the end of the current season with major doubts whether he will sign a new deal or draw a line under his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City, of course, are desperate to see him stay with speculation that they have given him a deadline of Christmas to decide whether he wants to remain or allow the Citizens to search for his successor.

Their current hearing over alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial fair play rules is an extra complication with some reports claiming that Man City could face points deductions, relegation or even expulsion if found guilty.

Man City deny any wrongdoing but the outcome of the case could have a big impact on whether Guardiola chooses to stay at the Etihad or move on.

A report in TBR Football yesterday insisted that Man City are hopeful they can get Guardiola to agree to a new contract over the international break.

    The report claimed:

‘Man City hope that Guardiola could commit to signing a new deal with the club during the forthcoming international break.

‘In terms of City’s poor run of form, there is no wavering in their support of Guardiola and the club’s hierarchy have been continuing contract talks in the background.

‘Terms are not an issue for Guardiola, who’s current deal expires in the summer, it’s just a question of whether the 53-year-old wants to continue or not.

‘City sources have confirmed that there is confidence within the club that Guardiola will commit to a new deal before the end of the year, ideally in the coming weeks.

‘Outgoing director of football, Txiki Begiristain, has indicated to the club’s owners that he believes that Guardiola will stay and club CEO Ferran Soriano has the deal ready to go.’

But now reports in Spain insist that Guardiola ‘has an agreement in principle to take control’ of the Brazil national team and is now likely to leave Man City.

It is claimed that ‘the project of the former Barca and Bayern Munich player is showing clear signs of exhaustion’ and ‘the idea that convinces him the most is to take a sabbatical year, to be able to rest from the media pressure and persecution’.

Guardiola is ‘keen on the possibility of becoming the national coach of a country’ and ‘the option that is still on the table is that of joining the Brazilian national team, which has been looking for a new leader for some time, after the resignation of Tite and the signing of Dorival Junior’.

After being rejected by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazil FA’s ‘big target is Guardiola, taking advantage of the fact that he is free from his commitments with City in 2025’.

Trump is considering cryptocurrency-supporting candidates for positions in federal financial agencies

Donald Trump is considering cryptocurrency-supportive candidates for positions in US federal financial agencies. Potential appointments include senior positions at the SEC and the creation of a new cryptocurrency position in the White House.

US President-elect Donald Trump is considering candidates for positions in federal financial agencies that support cryptocurrencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, and hiring a chief crypto assistant at the National Economic Council.

This was reported by The Washington Post , UNN and UNN.

    Details

President-elect Donald Trump is preparing the U.S. government to take a more lenient stance on cryptocurrency by considering industry-friendly nominees for key positions, and his top advisers are consulting with crypto executives on possible changes to federal policy

    – the publication writes.

Initial discussions focused on a number of financial regulatory bodies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission. For important leadership positions, Trump's aides have considered a mix of current regulators, former federal officials, and financial industry executives, many of whom have publicly expressed pro-crypto views. The discussion is still in the early stages and the list of candidates is changing.

“Names being considered for positions at the Securities and Exchange Commission include Daniel Gallagher, a former commission official who now works for Robinhood, a financial technology firm that offers crypto wallets as well as trading stocks; and Hester Pierce and Mark Oueda, two Republican commissioners on the commission,” the publication notes.

Trump's aides are also considering former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins and former Commodity Futures Trading Commission Commissioner Chris Giancarlo. The candidate elected to the SEC should replace its current chairman, Gary Gensler, whom Trump promised to fire during a speech at a major bitcoin conference this summer. The publication also notes that the new Trump administration intends to hire a chief crypto assistant at the National Economic Council, a key policy unit of the White House.

The White Stripes have dropped their copyright lawsuit over the use of their song “Seven Nation Army” in the Trump campaign. The decision came less than a week after Trump won the election.

Earlier, the musicians protested against the use of their music in Donald Trump's presidential campaign. However, copyright litigation is expensive, and the case would take years to resolve.

    Details

Less than a week after Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election, the White Stripes dropped a copyright lawsuit over the use of their song “Seven Nation Army” without a license in the Republican presidential campaign.

The White Stripes' lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on Sunday. In their one-sentence motion, the band's representatives ask for the case to be dismissed “without prejudice,” meaning that the trial could theoretically be reopened at some point in the future.

Last week, Jack White complained about Trump's landslide victory in an Instagram post.

Ukrainian forces repelled a major Russian assault in Russia’s Kursk Oblast and neutralised a Russian assault battalion.

Source: Anastasiia Blyshchyk, spokeswoman for the 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Ukraine’s national 24/7 newscast

Quote: "Yesterday really was a dark day for Russian occupation forces, which attempted 5-6 waves of assaults. They tried deploying armoured vehicles and assault troops to break through, and assaulted individual settlements, but the 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade destroyed 10 of their armoured vehicles. Three armoured personnel carriers exploded after triggering mines, and others were destroyed using FPV drones and the Stuhna anti-tank guided missiles.

Units deployed near to our positions destroyed more armoured vehicles… A group of [Russian troops] were also killed, and those who survived scattered around nearby woods."

Details: Blyshchyk also said that Russia deployed a battalion to carry out this assault operation on 11 November and that "in effect, soldiers from [Ukraine’s] defence forces have neutralised this battalion". She added that drones will be deployed to find and kill those Russian soldiers that hid in the woods.

According to Blyshchyk, the situation on the Kursk front is difficult, but under the Ukrainian forces’ control.

She also said, with regards to the presence of North Korean troops on the front, that neither the 47th brigade nor units stationed nearby have seen them yet and Russia might still be waiting to deploy them.

For 2nd day straight, Russia’s reported losses in Ukraine surge to record levels

For 2nd day straight, Russia's reported losses in Ukraine surge to record levels

Russian forces suffered their deadliest day since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine for the second day in a row, according to figures released by Kyiv on Nov. 12

According to the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Moscow's troops lost 1,950 men over the preceding day.

This surpasses the previous record of 1,770 set just the day before. The total figure stands at 712,610.

The figures do not specify killed or wounded, though the overall consensus is that it includes dead, wounded, missing, and captured. They are broadly in line with estimates from Western nations.

The surge in losses comes as Russian forces step up pressure across the front lines.

NATO allies believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin is aiming to recapture territory lost to Ukraine in Kursk Oblast before Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

A British defense intelligence assessment, seen by The Telegraph, warns that Russia is likely to intensify kamikaze drone attacks on Ukrainian positions, using new launch sites near the border.

In a bid to regain control, Russia has deployed 50,000 troops, including soldiers from North Korea, to the Kursk region.

Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that as"tens of thousands of enemy soldiers from the best Russian shock units" are aiming to push Ukrainian forces out of the Russian enclave, raising concerns of a significant escalation in the war.

In the south of Ukraine, Vladyslav Voloshyn, Ukrainian military's Southern Command spokesperson, told Reuters on Nov. 11 that Russian assaults in Zaporizhzhia Oblast could begin "any day."

In early October, Russian troops reportedly renewed their attack in the Zaporizhzhia sector. Kyiv warned of a potential Russian push in the southern region, just as Moscow's troops continue advancing in Ukraine's east.

According to Voloshyn, Russia is also deploying trained assault groups to advance in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They are preparing to attack, he added.

"(The assaults) could begin in the near future, we're not even talking about weeks, we're expecting it to happen any day," the spokesperson said.

Ukraine's military intelligence said that Russia was planning to use armored vehicles and a significant number of drones, Voloshyn said, although it is not yet clear whether this will be a single offensive push or separate attacks.

"They are preparing both armored groups and light vehicles — buggies, motorcycles — to conduct these assault operations," he added.

And in the east of Ukraine, Russia's grinding advances continue.

Over autumn, large chunks of Ukrainian territory, sometimes including entire cities, have been lost on a near-daily basis in southern Donetsk Oblast, while Russian forces have also made operationally significant gains near Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, Kupiansk, as well as on their own soil in Kursk Oblast.

Russia's increasing pressure on Ukrainian positions is coming at a huge cost — the number of Russian troops injured and killed last month averaged 1,500 "every single day," U.K. Defence Staff Chief Admiral Anthony Radakin told the BBC on Nov. 10.

This is higher than the previous figure presented by the U.K. Defense Minister John Healey, who told The Telegraph on Nov. 8 that Russia suffered 41,980 killed and wounded during October- a daily average of 1,354.

Russia is sacrificing high numbers of troops for “tiny increments of land,” Radakin told the BBC.

However, he added that Russia is making “tactical, territorial gains,” and “putting pressure on Ukraine" amid a heavy offensive.

The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade repelled a large-scale assault by russian troops in the Kursk region. The occupiers lost 10 armored vehicles and suffered significant losses in manpower.

The situation in the kursk region is difficult but under control. Yesterday, the russian invaders failed in their assault. This was stated by Anastasia Blyshchyk, a public relations officer of the 47th separate mechanized brigade, during a telethon, UNN reports.

The situation is difficult (in the Kursk region – ed.), but it is under control and there is nothing critical for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

    – Blyshchik said.

Blyshchyk noted that November 11 was a "black" day for the russian occupiers.

Yesterday was indeed a "black" day for the russian occupiers, who tried to assault in 5-6 assaults. That is, they tried to "fly in" with troops and storm settlements. However, 10 units of armored vehicles were destroyed by the soldiers of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade. In particular, three armored personnel carriers exploded on mines, other vehicles were destroyed by FPV drones and Stugna ATGMs

    – Blyshchyk said.

She also said that russian invaders were eliminated.

It was noted that it was an extremely difficult day near the village of Novoivanivka, where the enemy tried to enter the village and its surroundings 5 times. In total, 29 pieces of weapons were used. The first three attacks were made by 7 weapons, the remaining two by 4 weapons.

Analysts also reported that at least 18 out of 29 weapons were destroyed. The number of dead and wounded Russians is difficult to calculate, but it could be up to 300.

Man City: APT ‘new challenge’ mooted with upcoming Premier League ‘vote unlikely to solve dispute’

Man City and the Premier League logo

A football finance expert has warned the Premier League that Manchester City may ‘launch a new challenge’ against Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.

Man City has insisted on their innocence after being accused of breaching more than 100 of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules.

Pep Guardiola‘s side were charged at the start of 2023 after the Premier League conducted a four-year probe into their conduct between 2009 and 2018.

This case was subsequently referred to an independent commission. The hearing is currently ongoing and could drag on until next year.

Earlier this year, a further spanner was thrown into the works as Man City launched a legal battle against the Premier League to campaign for APT rules to be removed.

Man City’s APT case has already concluded. Each side is understood to have had success, but the club reportedly “won on penalties” due to one ‘main success’.

READ: Man City FFP: ‘No argument against’ expulsion and ‘stripping PL titles’ with Juventus repeat demanded

Last week, former Man City advisor Stefan Borson backed the Premier League to perform a ‘U-turn’ as new “changes will take us back to the original 2021 associated party rules” after a couple components of the current regulations were deemed unlawful.

“It’s not a huge surprise in terms of the changes proposed,” Borson said.

“What we know is there is going to be a vote on 22 November to consider effectively changes that will take us back to the original 2021 associated party rules.

“It will effectively unwind those changes that have been made in 2024 that the tribunal deemed to be unlawful.

“The interesting part of it is we don’t yet know if any additional questions were put to the tribunal in terms of whether the fix can be as proposed here by the Premier League.”

In an interview with Football Insider, Borson has tipped Man City to ‘launch a new legal challenge’ as the Premier League vote on November 22 is ‘unlikely to solve the dispute’.

He said: “We will see whether the changes get through.

“It will be interesting to see what happens and whether this is just going to end up being a bit of a rerun of what happened in December 2023, where Man City said ‘We don’t think this stuff is legal and, if you go ahead, we may challenge it legally’. Ultimately, City were right.

“It will be interesting to see. I think it’s likely to just be the first step in the process as opposed to a complete solution to it.

“But it may be that just in this notice period before the actual vote, it may be that we get some official notification of what the tribunal has said in supplemental questions, but let’s see.”
