Dnipropetrovsk firm helped Russia build nuclear weapons labs, SBU says

A constructing supplies firm in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast despatched steel merchandise to the Russian Federation that had been used to construct nuclear weapons laboratories, the Safety Service of Ukraine (SBU) mentioned on Jan. 18, following an investigation into the agency.

The announcement coincides with a number of studies from Ukrainian legislation enforcement companies on Jan. 18 exposing alleged cases of treason and plots to aid Russia's war towards Ukraine.

Representatives of the corporate allegedly shipped a large-scale batch of chrome steel profiles to Russia after the full-scale invasion in 2022, the SBU said. These merchandise had been used to outfit the Russian Institute for Nuclear Analysis.

In these labs, "the Russians are creating designs for brand new fashions of nuclear-powered missile weapons," the SBU mentioned.

To hide the cargo to Russia, sellers first despatched the supplies to a third-party firm within the Center East, in line with the investigation. From there, the products had been exported to Russia.

Investigators mentioned they uncovered proof of legal exercise in cellphones, laptop gear, and paperwork seized throughout searches of the corporate and of suspects' residences.

The proprietor of the corporate and three subordinates have been charged with offering help to an aggressor state. The suspects face a sentence of as much as 12 years in jail with confiscation of property if convicted.
